Green Impact in the Mediterranean (GIMED) Project
The Green Impact in the Mediterranean (GIMED) Project is a three-year European Union funded initiative, signed in October 2019 and implemented in Egypt by the Alexandria Business Association (ABA).
The Project is carried out in cooperation with partners in four other countries: Italy, Palestine, Lebanon, and Tunisia.
- Two eco-innovation competitions were organized, reaching more than 500 environmentally friendly innovators across 7 governorates.
- Using a dedicated online tool, 45 entrepreneurs with innovative ideas and 43 startups were trained in green business planning, eco-design, market access, and financing.
- Innovative partnerships were established with 7 leading companies, including SODIC, IKEA, and Nestlé.
- One-on-one coaching was provided to the top 40 innovators and early-stage projects to prepare them to compete for a €60,000 grant awarded to the top 8 innovators.
- Grants of €7,500 were awarded to 8 innovators and startups to support their market entry and business growth planning.
- Four investment events were organized for 40 entrepreneurs, enabling them to pitch their projects and seek funding from eight venture capital firms and three individual investors.
