The Alexandria Business Association (ABA), chaired by Eng. Medhat El Kady, welcomed H.E. Ambassador Kim Yong-hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and his accompanying delegation at the Association’s headquarters to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic and investment cooperation.
During the meeting, Eng. Medhat El Kady reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to deepening economic relations between Egypt and the Republic of Korea. He highlighted the importance of benefiting from Korea’s globally recognized expertise in shipbuilding, electronics, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, tourism, feeder industries, and vocational education and skills development. He also emphasized the promising opportunities that the anticipated Egypt–Korea Free Trade Agreement could create in enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
The ABA Chairman further called for organizing joint economic forums, trade missions, and Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings between Egyptian and Korean companies. He also proposed expanding cooperation in training and capacity-building programs through the Association’s specialized training centers to empower youth and women while enhancing workforce skills in line with labor market needs.
Eng. El Kady praised the Republic of Korea’s remarkable economic and industrial development experience, noting that Alexandria’s strategic location, advanced logistics infrastructure, and diversified industrial base make it an attractive destination for Korean investment.
For his part, H.E. Ambassador Kim Yong-hyun reaffirmed his country’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Egypt across a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, advanced technology, cosmetics, transportation, and artificial intelligence. He noted that more than 2,000 Korean companies are actively seeking opportunities to expand their international presence and explore new overseas markets.
The Ambassador also encouraged the organization of joint trade missions and stronger engagement between the business communities of both countries to facilitate new partnerships and contribute to sustainable economic development.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Haitham El Kayar, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Head of the Executive Office; Dr. Mohamed Moharram, Board Member and Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Small and Handicraft Enterprises Development Project; and Dr. Amgad El Attal, Board Member. Representing the Association’s executive management were Mr. Mohamed Eissa, Executive Director; Mr. Mohamed Ismail, General Manager; and Ms. Marwa Abou Heif, Foreign Affairs Manager.
