The Internal Trade Committee at Alexandria Business Association, chaired by Mr. Mohamed Hefny, organized a seminar hosting Dr. Hatem Mostafa Zaki, Chairman of the Egyptian Franchise Development Association, to discuss franchise systems, trademark licensing, and business models qualified to operate under franchising frameworks.
Mr. Mohamed Hanno , ABA Chairman, welcomed the guest and highlighted the importance of raising awareness within the business community about franchise expansion opportunities as a cost-effective growth model that supports the wider spread of successful brands in Egypt.
He also pointed to the existing gap in market evaluation and return estimation among franchisees, emphasizing the critical role of legal frameworks in shaping franchise market growth and regulating expansion activities.
During the seminar, Dr. Hatem reviewed the role of the Egyptian Franchise Development Association in supporting businesses through operational manuals as an alternative to costly consultancy services, in addition to assisting franchisors with trademark registration procedures and defining franchise-related financial structures.
He further outlined the key characteristics of businesses qualified for franchising, including having a registered trademark and operating successfully through remotely managed units for at least two years.
The discussion also highlighted major international franchise exhibitions, including events held in Paris, São Paulo (Brazil), Spain, Saudi Arabia, and East Asia.
Mr. Mohamed Hefny stressed the importance of expanding franchise opportunities across the business community and organizing specialized training programs in cooperation with Alexandria Business Association to support entrepreneurs and business owners in this growing sector.
The seminar was attended by members of ABA’s Board of Directors, committee representatives, and association members.
