Advocacy Department
The department was established in 2008 in cooperation between Alexandria Business Association and the International Finance Corporation (IFC):
Objectives
- Measure business climate reforms in Egypt
- Support the development of the regulatory business
- Communicate the private sector points of view related to business climate reforms
- Create an awareness relevant to private sector participation in the reforms
- Cooperate with the government to set a reform agenda
- Create and publish a series of the business sector development indices – ISLAH
- Economic reports, and situation analysis to support decision – making strategy

ISLAH INDEX
- Measures business climate reforms from the viewpoint of the Egyptian private sector.
- Contributes developing the business practices in Egypt through.
- Develop a comprehensive vision of the Egyptian doing business environment.
- The first edition: 2009 within the Alexandria governorate.
- The Second edition: 2012 within the two governorates of Alexandria and Cairo.
MRI
- Identify obstacles that could face the small and micro enterprises.
- Encourage and support the small and micro enterprises to join the formal sector.
